Kate Davids I've been working at home a lot lately, but it is difficult to keep focused and not go stir crazy! How do you handle it? I've been trying to get out in the evening (deadlines help me work), but what else can I do that is less stressful?

Anoop Kansupada I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I am hoping to do some market research for a fashion based company that I am working on. Kate Davids I finally got my company phone - a blackberry torch! However, though it's nifty and I like it, I'm wondering why blackberry is the corporate phone. Surely by this point it makes no difference? Thoughts?

JRandom42: The company probably got offered a heck of a deal from their cellphone carrier for the Blackberries. That's how it tends to work.

I donate blood plasma; if I go twice per week, I make $220/month Last year, they switched from a system where you got paid in cash to having funds deposited on a pre-paid card from Citi. It carries the following fee structure: $1.50 for ATM withdrawls (plus the ATM's fee for using a non-that-bank card). $.50 for debit transactions. $.25 for credit transactions. You can not get cash from a credit transaction.
A money order at my local supermarket costs $.50, plus Citi charges $.50 for the debit transaction for a total of $1.00. The advertised way of getting cash (other than ATM) is to buy something at the store and get cash over. However, the item would have to be less than $.50 for it to be cheaper for me; I can't remember the last time I've seen something at a grocery store for under fifty cents.

Kate Davids I read The Design of Everyday Things recently and it occurred to me that that book is old. He barely mentions computers, if at all, and his examples are antiquated. And you know what? It's still highly applicable and worth a thorough read. I wrote a blog post on it, but wanted to hear what you all think about how the changes in technology have affected what "good design" means. Brad Hilderbrand I'm wondering if anyone has any good resources for how to market digital products. Most of the reference materials I see talk about physical locations, actual inventory, etc. I'm having trouble translating these concepts into an all-digital world. Any suggestions?

For example, Newsweek used to show the top ten apps (or something similar) on the back cover of the magazine.

Physical businesses are begining to use QR codes. I would consider, based on the specific app, which business or venue it naturally relates to and get creative in advertising your app. This could range from a formal partnership to co-advertise with a business to a viral campaign such as a QR scavenger hunt at an industry conference or within a city or town.

Try to build a relationship with the people who run the site long-term. In the short-term, see what it would take to get your app reviewed by them, or at least looked at.

I'd also recommend contact companies that have launched apps which sold well to see what you can learn from them.
