The group will identify top online and tech trends and will collaborate to create blog posts on the subjects. This is a great way to focus on topics that interest you and feature your insights to a broader audience. I used to head National Geographic's Gen Y Trends Group and love analyzing the impact of innovation. Post a comment if interested.

I'm also a project lead for the PHOCUS program, which aims to connect grassroots ideas to policy makers (more or less) and see great potential for social media to do this. Ideas, advice, comments?

I think that social media is the start of a new way of doing business even if it is not the entire revolution itself. It's going to be the catalyst that will push us in a direction that is surprisingly like older times when word of mouth was the way to get things out there, relying on communities to propel a business or product image. Now the communities are simply online.
