Edward Antrobus As I've gotten older, I've started to suffer from poor circulation in my feet. Three layers of socks (liner, cotton, wool) inside my steel-toe boots seems to be fine down to about 40 degreees, but below that I've been suffering from cold feet. Does anyone with cold weather experience have any suggestions? Work keeps me outdoors for 10-12 hours per day.

My hermatocrit is tested on average twice per week when I donate plasma and it is consistently just a little bit higher then we would like it to be (more red blood cells means less plasma and longer donation). I average right around 50%

TOP IDEA: Catherine Adamson People want to get involved in supporting pollinators because they have heard that bees are in decline. Mostly that means buying local honey. But honey is a low-margin wholesale agricultural product; not a good basis for entrepreneurship. So what's a side hustler to do? Lease bees to those most motivated and provide education in beekeeping! The customer can produce their own ultra-local honey & the entrepreneur can ignore commodity pricing and focus on high-value-added services instead.

Most farms have a main source of income which is seasonal. Diversification allows better utilization of land and labor. Also, those who have chosen a life style of better health through nutrition will tell you raw honey from local farm locations are better for your health than the process honey purchased in the grocery store. Thus, a higher margin and price can be obtained in the market place. Many who are involved with organic and healthier food choices will purchase raw honey as a substitute for cane or beet sugar used in the home for cooking and beverages. Development of a customer base for a local farm is slow but the customers obtained are generally very loyal for years.

My comment about working FOR idiots is really just a freindly slam at every boss I've ever had. And it was said in jest. I haven't liked all my superiors, but there are none I felt disrespect or contempt for. I've had driving citations before but it's never gotten in the way of my career(s).

I've gotten good jobs in the past when I had a worse driving record, but I've never seen a non-driving position ask for a copy of driving record. Bernard Ferret Are you looking for a "green" job? I just completed 3 studies about green job creation by green companies funded by venture capital. I looked at GE's Ecomagination Challenge winners (http://tinyurl.com/3jxqas3), and startups funded by Khosla Ventures (http://tinyurl.com/4y337gn), and Kleiner-Perkins (http://tinyurl.com/3o7t4ac). Theses startups are the "hot" ones that attract major venture capitalists, and some of them will be the big winners in the green economy.

Edward Antrobus This is, in fact, a rant. So feel free to ignore it. But what am I doing wrong here? After checking every day over a dozen company job boards, job search aggregators, and specialty job boards, I find about 1-2 mediocre-fitting listings a week, and a good fitting listing about every 2 months. Applying and even following up produces 0 results 90% of time. Networking over 2 years has dug up 3 people in my field who have all refused to meet in person and provided a total of 1 referral. *End rant*

Megan Atkinson FOX TV released some cast videos via shows (i.e. House MD, Bones) on Facebook in spirit of Earth Day coming up. Idea: to have all of our 15+ offices compile videos featuring staff sharing their favorite "factoids" about eco-friendly things like recycling, saving energy, composting, etc. We could then have the executive team choose their favorite video and the winner would receive the company's annual environmental stewardship core value award. It baffles me that someone of my talents cannot get work. I can take a set of CAD files from an Architect for nearly any kind project and complete all of the electrical and lighting systems, inside and out, with all calculations, electronically saved within the electronic files, complete with all specifications (PDF files) for all lighting, controls, fire alarm, and power distribution equipment. I have a thorough understanding of all codes and ordinances. I have years of experience doing this, and I can do all of this using the free products on the Net (like TokBox, Skype, etc.). AND, I have a personality and you can put me out there working with the client and they LIKE me. So, what are employers afraid of? Why can't I get a job, or even part of a project with another engineer? It is definitely a difficult time.

(This is an accreditation that can be relevant for a variety of careers and professionals! Look into it at the USGBC.org website.)
