Not everyone has 20/20 vision, or 20/60 or even 20/150. And lower contrast is an issue for people with vision problems.
If something is hard for me to read, I probably won't.

I was giving my opinion as an individual user more than a web developer looking for issues that any user may have. I always try to keep in mind in any design work that there will always be a user somewhere who does not agree with my design choices, whether they be due to usability or personal preference. As someone who uses contacts and glasses myself, I felt the contrast on this site was enough that most users would not have a problem. However, I agree more contrast is always a better idea than lower contrast.

La Donna Lokey I'm working on a research project and need to identify companies that are similar to or competitors of Razorfish, in particular any companies that might have a presence in Texas, NY, or Florida. This would be companies that hire User Experience Devs/Designers, Web Devs, Project Mgrs, graphic artists, copy writers, HTML coders, etc. Can you name some of these companies, and also indicate which ones are the best or have the best reputation?

However, it is not a big company it only has 6 employees and since I am moving towards my final two months they thought it would be interesting for me to have a more important task, such as finding new clients. In your opinion do you think this is a good start to attract new clients?

Hi Fredrico, I'm doing something similar for a company where I work with a decent small design team.
I would say setting up LinkedIn/Facebook/Twitter accounts would be just one way people can find you, unless you're incredibly lucky that wont grow your client base on its own. There's a whole heap of streams you can look at to grow your client base, but Social Media is about being contactable.

Unless you're creating a viral campaign, those channels alone wont sustain a biz dev effort; try networking at some events, see who you meet? Getting new clients is a very energy-intensive process in the mains - keeping a client and showing them where else you can help their business is much more powerful.

If you're just looking to create your own site, some programs like Adobe dreamweaver, are designed to make it "easy" for folks who don't know what they're doing but want to create a site from the ground up (if you buy the software, buy a book too).

Another good option is wordpress - it's free, and there are about a billion websites providing awesome content and help to create your site.

One big brand isn't bad, but depending on the company it might get stagnant working with the same look, same feel, same product over and over again.

I think that creative types in any industry should have side projects that keep them thinking of new ideas and concepts. I try to find side projects too when I can.

@Benjamin -- Brands like ours need independent artists to keep things fresh. That's why working with people like yourself is always so fun for me.

@John -- That's true. It's rare that those big projects get awarded for being innovative. Another good reason why it's important to be about more than just making money.

Valarie Case Brainstorming for a cover idea for a new recruitment viewbook for our university. I keep hearing the phrase "make it edgy. High school students like edgy design." Last year the cover had a "grunge" brush look to it, but looking for a new idea this year. School colors are red & black. Mascot is Rangers. Logo is a bucking horse/rider. Trying to come up w/ a tag line along the lines of JEEP theme of "I live. I Ride. I am. JEEP." Book is 16 pgs. Need to carry theme thru the design. Thanks.

Are there any programs or schools your Univ is particularly known for, any specialties? Does the school offer good opportunities for athletes, or for engineers? Or is it a well-rounded school for students who want to explore options and discover what they are good at in a positive environment?

I think high school kids actually know more specifically what they want than in the past, and focusing on features or programs the school provides may win out over the design. Just playing devil's advocate. Like the tag line idea. But what is your University? What is a (your school here) student?
