It could be useful to you in two ways: either you can learn from it, or you can contribute to it. Scrollwork Hello to this cozy group of expats! I moved to California from Manila the summer of '85. I thought I spoke English fairly well, but heck, I had to learn basic things like saying "purse" instead of "bag," "couch" instead of "sofa." I got heckled by a group of teens when I had my hot pink umbrella up on a hot sunny day. Having exact change for the bus was daunting—I hadn't memorized what a quarter, nickel, dime and half-dollar looked like. Your experiences?
