JenG Super excited to be part of Ty Unglebower's AuGuest feature on his blog, Too XYZ. I wrote about a topic near and dear to Brazen's heart. Give it a look and see if you agree-- Not for Love or Money: A Better Way to Choose a Career http://bit.ly/9ztwZP

I think its easy to suggest pursue a career "for love" and not worry about all the intangibles we must take care of in our life. I agree with You and Michael Hecht that there's a threshold where money buys happiness.

Flexibility is key in everything. If you're not flexible, you may miss a golden opportunity in career, friendship, anything.

You don't hear much about it, but being open to possibilities is key to making it in any field. Thanks for reading!

JenG As someone who calls herself an environmentalist, I've struggled to balance my desire to travel the world with the natural impact of such choices. I spoke with Sven Lindblad, owner of Lindblad Expeditions and a heavyweight among the environmental groups, to see how he handled the apparent dichotomy. If I told you all the people we met on our trip, you'd think I was name dropping. I never thought I would like group travel, but Lindblad changed my mind. Now it seems boring to consider not going on a Lindblad trip. Definitely worth saving for! (I told my husband our Galapagos/Peru trip was a "trip of a lifetime" to justify the cost. When I lobbied for Egypt the next year, he said, "What lifetime are we on now?" LOL)

JR- Those sound very interesting too. I like the idea of trips that combine exercise or education with vacation. I'll have to check those out that you mention.

JenG I've long struggled with the joy I get from eating meat, and the guilt I feel over the environmental and ethical repercussions of doing so (factory farming is bad for the environment & I'm a huge animal lover). Ever feel the same? I've decided the only solution may be to become a Flexitarian: http://su.pr/8x9H2A

Justin A. Sharpe My greatest advice: Discover who you are, and who you want to be. Embrace yourself & what you can do... & w/ hard work the rest will follow.
