Ryan Paugh Would/could you ever go back to an office job? I think I could, and would, if the opportunity was right for me. I really enjoy working location independent, but part of me misses the more distinct separation between my work life and my life life.

In our industry people say "home based" and I think that sounds so cheesy, like doing business out of trunk of a car! When people ask me where my office is located, I hold up my Blackberry or Laptop, whichever is closest! Then I say I am "totally virtual". With the great weather we have in Los Angeles about 333 days a year, I can be in a cafe`, or in a park, or "anywhere" and still take care of my clients! They love they can reach me about 12+ hours a day, 365 days a year!

We are a very mobile society, so it is not necessary to have a "brick and mortar" address. PLUS, with a POBOX, you can move 3-4-5 times a year, and no one needs to know!

JR Moreau As someone who's freelanced, I must say coworking spaces are the best! I love how collaborative they are (and generally affordable)

Timothy Johnson III Hi everyone. I was curious if any of you might know of any freelancers or small business professionals around Woodbridge, NJ/Staten Island, NY that might be interested in "getting things done" in a co-working environment? In particular, I'd be interested in talking to people that are tired of working from home or out of a coffee shop, and want to work in a office space and interact with other people. Does that sound like anyone you know? If so, please comment and let me know! Thanks a lot!

Timothy Johnson III For those of you that work at home, I thought this might provide some comic relief, or at least, some of you might be able to identify with it. I certainly got a good laugh out of it.. http://theoatmeal.com/comics/working_home

Timothy Johnson III Hi guys. I'm currently working out of Launchpad Creatives, based in Woodbridge, NJ. At the moment, we're currently trying to brainstorm events to increase foot traffic and get freelancers, coders, and all those others who usually work at home to come in and see the space, and really utilize it to the fullest. Do you all have any suggestions on how to do that? If there is/was a co-woking near you, what types of things would you want to see happen there or entice you to work in the space?

Timothy Johnson III I'm SO happy I just found this group! I'm working out of an awesome co-working space in Woodbridge, NJ called Launchpad Creatives. I wanted to invite you all to Launchpad Creatives on August 17th for two reasons: 1.) To get a brand spanking new headshot taken by Elizabeth Williams, one of our fellow Brazen Careerists and 2.) Spend a day at Launchpad Creatives, one of New Jersey's new co-working spaces. Details here: http://ow.ly/d/5CL. Questions? Contact me! Hope to see some of you next week!

Rebecca Thorman I think I'd enjoy my commute more if other drivers weren't so stupid. I get so frustrated! My commute is about 20-25 minutes desk-to-desk. I never had a car before this position and even though my hybrid is cute, I hate driving. I'd love to be able to work from home more often if only to avoid the awful commute. Do you all have suggestions on sensible ways to frame this to my boss? I don't have kids like many of my colleagues, so I'm nervous that asking for such an arrangement is selfish...

Rebecca Thorman Our CEO and President are traveling again today. It's so interesting how quiet it gets when they're not here. Not bad, just different. Does your boss' physical presence make a difference in your office? What does your answer say about the future of things like co-working, telecommuting and flexible work arrangements? Do you need to be face-to-face with your team to be successful?

Actually I feel like people are more focused when they are not in the office since all of the office politics are non-existent. Excellent communication skills and having a stellar staff is a must for telecommuting but if you structure it correctly and have the right equipment then there is no need to work face to face.

My current staff is positioned all over the east coast and works all different hours. We have our own internal community as well as video conferences and trainings to keep the communication flowing on a daily basis to ensure that we all stay connected.

I do have an office to go to but when I go in I am distracted by the office politics and social atmosphere and it takes a few hours off of my day where I could have been more productive.

JR Moreau Does anyone know of any good coworking profitability case studies? Everyone knows that coworking spaces are useful, but I'm interested in hearing if there is a business model surrounding providing a space for coworking that doesn't raise the level of month to month rent that people pay for a spot.
