Cocktails

Whether you're a semi-professional drinker or a master mixologist, this is the place to discuss everything to do with cocktails.

Recipes, ingredients, new and hard-to-get bottles - it's all fair game.

Luke Johnson Here's my newest web venture: http://lushlifeonline.net. While it's mostly about cocktails for now, my plan is to add other sections about music, style, and other aspects of a lush life. Comments appreciated. Let me know if you'd like to become a contributor.

Luke Johnson I bought myself a bottle of Bols Genever. It took me a few weeks, and more than a few missteps - to figure out how it fit into cocktails. Best advice I got from twitter twitter post, suggesting to treat it more like a dark liquor. I'm assuming something about the rich flavorings is behind that. In any case, it worked! Here's a cocktail for you all to try: 1.5 oz Bols Genever .5-.75 oz Grand Marnier Shake and strain over frozen raspberries & top off with 2 Dashes Regan's Orange Bitters

tommyspoon The Poinsettia, my fave cocktail for the holidays: Take a champagne flute and fill it 2/3 of the way with your choice of bubbly (regular or unleaded), fill the remaining 1/3 with cranberry juice (the real stuff, if you can get it), and then float a little bit of orange liqueur on the top. Serve immediately. Makes a great way to kick off a holiday party!

Luke Johnson I mixed myself an 'Old Pal' cocktail (Rye Whiskey, French vermouth and Campari), shaken and strained into a cocktail glass with a lemon twist garnish. Interesting, but definitely not for the light-hearted.
