Chris Paugh Over the past year, my husbands parents (93, 88 years old) have been declining. Dad's legs do not want to work anymore, and Mom has a touch of dementia. We have just started our journey trying to understand how we can get the best care for them. So far we found that it is not easy and straightforward, lots of paperwork, and red tape. We just hired an elderly care lawyer to help us. Going forward I will share some tips as we go through the process.

Thao Le I, too, hate the thought of nursing homes. My mother had three breast cancer scares 2006-2007 and my guardian a brain aneurysm 2008! I dealt with it through therapy, working out, and writing. I'm 24 btw.

FWIW, it is not something just for Gen Y-ers. I'm 52 and must now deal with both my father and his sister, both with dementia.

Karen Au This is something Gen Y folks will have to consider as their baby-boomer parents age, and I hate the thought of nursing homes. Thanks!
