But maybe the problem resides close to home. Maybe the is yourselves and our families. Please comment. Some of them may have started out with good intentions but they have become for profit ventures with low grad rates who accept anyone, and they need increased scrutiny.

My fields don't lean themselves to online degrees and I wold not hire someone with an online degree but I understand business degrees from some of these schools do ok.

Of course all the scandal regarding the industry in recent years hasn't made my opinion any better.

I am a graduate with a BSB/A from University of Phoenix and am currently having difficulty finding a job in relation to my degree. I wondered if employers were hiring more people with a degree from a traditional setting. I worked very hard online and invested a lot of time everyday and received a high GPA. I wonder if employers even care about a GPA. Phoenix is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, in comparison to other schools its accredited much the same. If I were to do it over, I would have attended in a traditional setting due to the fact that online was relatively boring and I could have learned more from the experience of a college setting.

Also, Toastmasters is good. But it sounds like you have a good set of presentation skills. Now you need some marketing and a pitch to land new clients (beyond the COC?). Ramit Sethi has good tips on identifying markets and future clients and how to sell your new ideas.

William Bryan How do handle with not achieving a long-term goal? I had a long term goal of getting into graduate school at Truman State University. I met all the short term goals I set up for myself, but in the end I was not accepted. How do you handle with defeat? What are some steps to keep your positive attitude? I try my best to stay positive by reading motivational blogs or stories, but I still get down on myself and crawl into a comfort zone. What do you do to keep yourself aggressive and movitivated?

Jamie Nacht Farrell People always ask, "what can I do to stand out in an interview?" and having interviewed 1000s - I believe there is only ONE thing that sets people apart and it's not something you can FAKE; PASSION / Hunger sets people apart. Passion is the only thing that sets people apart from real enthusiasm to "looking for work". And the winners in this world have passion and you can see that and identify it. BRAVO. Well done. The faster someone lets you know their passion the less BS you have to deal with the faster you will find a terrific candidate to work for your company.

Passion is the only thing that is worthy to the interviewer or ee. Wake up and smell the coffee people. Get real.

I tend to agree with Cheryl.

I personally have seen some fairly incompetent, yet very passionate people. Passion is overrated. It has become the buzz word, and I'm sorry i don't really buy it. I think that one must have innumerable other qualities in order for passion to count. When all those other qualities are in place, starting with a stellar work ethic and a core knowledge base and applicable experience, then yes passion will make a difference. Your best writers are not always the most passionate, but are usually the ones who are most organized and have the stellar work ethic, and I believe you will find this in most professions, even among the creatives.
