TOP IDEA: Maura V. Pingor If I were to chose 1 experience that has had a major influence in whom I am today, I say it's the opportunity I was given to live in & visit differenct countries: when I was 7 my family moved from Argentina to Rio de Janeiro, Brasil. When I was 21 I moved to the US. I have also visited multiple countries. Being exposed to so many different cultures has had a HUGE impact in my life (personally and professionally). Do you have one thing you can point to as a major driver of whom you are today?

Your insights are interesting and inspiring. Hmmm, for me, a major driver was finding myself homeless in high school. I worked full time, attended school, lived in a car and went on to put myself through college. I still feel as if I can accomplish anything.

TOP IDEA: Maura V. Pingor Great timing on this article (http://bit.ly/fhDULz), as I have taken recrutiing responsibilities for a new internal client, Citi Realty Services, and some of the jobs I have opened are for our Alternative Work Strategy group. Now that I have used our flexible work benefits, I don't think I can do without them. Is this a benefit you currently have, and if not, how do you rank it in your job selection process?

Hi Maura,
It is very nice to add me in your fan. Although I do not have much experience in recruiting, I used to recruit sales people while working in Vietnam with different global companies. It is a very challenging I did not only expect to find a right candidate for the position but also to find a potential candidate to develop for the future

La Donna Lokey Seeing a growing trend of apps/sites wanting to share (via FB or elsewhere) what you're reading, listening to, watching. Be careful, people! It takes years to build a reputation and seconds to destroy one! It's a good idea to review your own feed from time to time, to ensure your apps aren't posting things without your knowledge.

Not only did I learn the true basics of software engineering, but I learned from his 20+ years of experience at IBM, Burroughs, and Sperry as a senior software engineer, about how software engineering works in the real world.

In addition, not only was he a brilliant engineer, a high level software guru and a successful businessman, but a fount of information on anything relating to businesses, computers and software.

La Donna Lokey I feel VERY blessed to be working on a team of people who understand & support one another, on good days or bad, but it hasn't always been this way in my corporate experience, andI know not all group dynamics work this way. Curious--in your own work experience (or even on team projects as a student), have more of your team dynamics been positive, or negative? What do you think influences how groups work together?

For instance, in most cases where I had a bad team experience it was because we lacked a team leader that everyone could agree on. None of us had the right balance of different kinds of authority. It helps when someone is objectively more experienced or obviously more knowledgeable or has more obvious weight in the hierarchy.
