Timothy Johnson III I'm considering signing up for the Brazen U Social Media Boot Camp course and I wanted to know which fellow Brazens took the course. What was the real-world impact for you, post-Bootcamp? How did it the course improve your social media efforts and know-how for your current job or side-gig? I'd love to get some feedback from Brazen community and I'm looking forward to hearing about your experiences. Thanks a lot!

I wonder how helpful these social media "courses" really are. Has anyone here tried any of these? If they're any good, how are they closing the gap between social media theory and praxis ?

Edward Antrobus I know there are a lot of bloggers here, so I thought this would be a good place to share this: There is a new website out there that I recently learned about. Bloggers Classifieds. Think of it as an Angie's List for blogging related services. If you have a task that you want to outsource, or have some project that you need to hire someone to do for you, take a look here. http://bloggersclassifieds.com/

TOP IDEA: Edward Antrobus In an effort to be more of a full-serve, one-stop shop, I've expanded my ebook file conversion service into a full-blown e-publisher. Not only will SEAM Publishing convert your files to ebook files capable of being read on the Kindle, Nook, iPad, etc, but now I will list them for you on Amazon & Barnes & Noble as well! Please check out http://www.seampublishing to tell me what you think of the site I put together for this project. Thanks.

Edward Antrobus On my food blog, I have three posts that are ranked 1-ish for their keyword. In fact about 20% of my traffic is to those three posts. Currently, all I'm getting out of it is about 100 ad impressions per month, i.e. ~$.04 I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on what I could do/be doing differently to better capitalize on the popularity of those three posts. Either in terms of increased revenue or in terms of visitor retention/increased subscribers (which would lead to increased revenue!)

Pete Collins Do you delete any of your blog posts? My blogging is quite variable in terms of quality, so should I get rid of some older ones that I don't really like, don't link to, and have hardly got any views? It would increase the average quality of my posts, but decrease the quantity. What do you do?

Perhaps you didn't have a clear goal in mind when you started blogging? Go back and re-focus those old posts, clean up the writing and add some SEO into them to bring them up to speed.

Edward Antrobus Wanted to get opinions on a tactic I just witnessed. First impression is that it's kind of sleazy. I write a blog about job searching. The other day, I saw "job search tips" + "commentluv" as one of the search terms in Analytics. Later, there was a comment awaiting moderation from someone with a website of free-job-search-websites.com The comment was about the post, so not obviously spam, but it didn't really add anything to the discussion either. Really just to add a backlink to their site.

Technically CommentLuv is to reward people for commenting, essentially providing a comment incentive yes? So somebody was looking for relevant blogs to comment on. OK, fair enough. That the comment wasn't fantastic is a bummer. It did relate to the post and was left by a human which is pretty much the criteria for commenting on my site.

I will admit I WAS listed on a commentluv do follow directory and got more than a few "opportunistic commenters" so I DID remove myself from the directory. So while I think that opportunistic commenting is technically fair game, I did take action when I felt I was getting too many of these types of comments.

Another option with Comment Luv premium is to limit backlinks to people who have left X approved comments on your site (presumably a deterrent to people who aren't really going to stick around that long).

Edward Antrobus What do you use for RSS feeds? I've been using Google Reader ever since I knew what RSS was, but am looking to switch. I could care less about the social features that it's loosing; I don't use them anyway. But the new look makes my eyes hurt. I need more contrast.

Alexis Dubief Fan Page Vs. Networked Blogs - Thoughts? I realize this is not necessarily an either/or question. But should I even bother with networked blogs and have people who follow me there OR via the fan page? Or is networked blogs an unnecessary step and I should focus exclusively on building up my presence via my own page? Anybody have any experience (good/bad) with the benefits/issue of networked blogs on FB? Thanks!

Why should anybody use your brother over a person I can get to do the work for five bucks at Fiverr.com? Also - don't worry too much about price. Don't try to be the same price as everybody else. Try to offer more and charge more than your competition.

Good points. This is probably going to be more of a side gig than a full-time business.

What I see in the listings at Fiverr is very simple setups. The kind of thing for people who are too lazy or feel too intimidated to realize that it takes all of about 15 minutes to get up and running. What he is more interested in doing is providing a full-service experience and ongoing support. Theme tweaking, plugins, etc. and being there if you need to change something in the future.

I understand what you are saying about competing on value instead of price, but it still requires an understanding on market prices. Otherwise, he could set a price that winds up being astronomically high or doing more than the competition and charging substantially less.
