Mehul Kar I'll be honest. the past few weeks have been terrible in terms of 5 to 9'ing. But today! I woke up at 0545, went for a jog, and feel grrrreat. Last night I went to bed at 2130. I'm getting back to the schedule!

Mehul Kar According to Ayurveda (ancient Indian texts addressing health and wholeness), the day is divided into 2 cycles, an AM and a PM cycle. Each cycle is further divided into 3 parts during which certain qualities are predominant. 2 am/pm to 6 am/pm is Vata time. Vata qualities are: quick, cool, alert, agile, etc. 6 am/pm to 10 am/pm is Kapha time. Kapha qualities are: solid, heavy, slow, cold, etc. 10 am/pm to 2 pm /am is Pitta time. Pitta qualities are: hot, sharp, etc.

I have not read that book Barbara, but I have heard about it.
I'm generally wary of books about this sort of stuff, because natural living is more of a personal experience than a science.

Barbara Saunders: I recommend the book only because it provides a great summary - and the first exposure I had - to exactly the information you posted.

Delta Waters mehul! glad to be here...i work 12 hr shifts 3 days/week as a nurse. those days i get up at 4:30am to pry my eyes open with tea and my morning writing pages and read my BC messages...on the days i don't "work" (read: as an RN), i still make it up early b/c it's the most productive time of my day to work on affiliate marketing, resumes and my soon-to-come blog...i get tired early in the evening which frustrates my night owl husband to no end...

Jamie Nacht Farrell I do my best / most productive work from 430 AM - 630 AM...and then crash again for an hour before I get up for work...bad habit, but...works for me. I haven't set an alarm in years.

Scott Cofer Great idea for a group Mehul! I usually get work done late in the evening - and still get up at 6. So, I will adjust my schedule and see if I can get more done early when I'm fresh ...

Late in the evening and early in the morning are typically known as the crunch periods because there are fewer distractions.
But our bodies are naturally attuned to the timing of nature and when the sun is coming up is also the best time for our minds to be awake.

Scott Cofer: Well said, Mehul. I have experienced that myself ... I am much more productive at sunrise as opposed to sunset (and beyond!).

Rebecca Thorman I've been going to bed earlier too recently and trying to wake up early to go to the gym as well. Just today, I was thinking how great it would be to wake up at 5 to have an hour for the gym and an hour for writing... ! We'll see though. It's definitely easier in the Spring and Summer when the sun is out that early.

I usually go to bed by 10pm and wake up at 4:45. I get my reading done and also go to the gym. I am back in my office by 7:30am and ready to go. Did I mention that while in the gym, I also have time for a nice sauna break? The good thing about waking up this early is that you don't have to feel guilty about taking time for yourself...most people are still asleep while I am relaxing/meditating in the sauna:)

That's a big reason why I'm up early getting things done for me as well (kids aren't up til at least 7am so I have a few hours!)
