Brazen Careerist Vocabulary:

Social Resume: A Social Resume is the first of its kind, active, live resume that lets you showcase your top ideas from around the web and share them in one convenient place. It’s a resume that highlights your thoughts and future plans as much as your past experience.

Top Ideas: Highlight what's important to you on your social resume using the Top Ideas section. You can use imported blog posts, network conversations, #Brazen tweets, content you've created elsewhere, portfolio projects and more. Effortlessly organize the most important things you have to say so employers, colleagues and friends don't forget just how smart you really are.

Fan Feed: Your command center. This is where you view all the activity that you and your fans are partaking in. Here you’ll see when people who you are fans of leave comments on networks, blog posts, post blogs or even update their profile information.

Networks: Groups of people that gather around a shared topic or interest. Networks vary from college alumni hubs to professional development groups.

Network Leaders: Creators and administrators of each individual network. They have the ability to moderate conversation and customize the group features. Anyone can start a network and become a Network Leader, however it’s important that each individual maintain their networks and keep them active.

How is Brazen Careerist different than LinkedIn?

Brazen Careerist is social networking for your career. LinkedIn is able to display your professional network, but there isn't any real way to grow your network there. Brazen Careerist offers you several different conversations happening at once that you can partake in, growing your network and developing your professional brand.

A static resume, like you see on LinkedIn, often undermines a candidate due to its backward-looking nature and emphasis on either experience or connections with previous colleagues. Can anyone see my Brazen Careerist profile? Is that safe?

Our profiles are open in order to give our members the maximum level of professional branding exposure to potential employers and people interested in them. The amount of information you choose to share on your profile is completely up to you. Be aware of things like your email address, your personal address or your phone number while you upload your resume. You may not want those things available for all to see. BACK >>

How do I create a new network?

Once you've figured out that a network idea that you're interested in hasn't already been covered by going to the Networks Directory, click the Add A New Network button (or click here). Here you'll be able to add a network description, list which category your network belongs to and add a picture. Filling all parts thoroughly will make your network more appealing to join. How do I find groups that will help me connect with interesting people?

Our groups are divided on one level by Locations, Professional topics, Interests and Other. Basically it's a good idea to look up the groups associated with your industry and location right off the bat. This is going to give you a compass of who's saying what in relation to your interests. BACK >>

Employer Brand Pages help companies/organizations connect with our members. You can talk to current employees, find jobs and comment on related content that is imported from Twitter, company blogs, Google News feeds and beyond!

How can an Employer Brand page help me get a job?

Nearly 90% of all jobs are filled through referrals. That means that you really need to know somebody to make things happen! Employer Branding Pages are a great way to get connected with the people who already work at the company of your dreams.

Employer Branding Pages additional offer traditional job postings. Become a Fan of companies/organizations on Brazen Careerist to get their latest job posts delivered to your Fan Feed.

How do I import a blog feed?

Each blog that is fed into our site comes from an RSS Feed. The RSS Feed is that little orange button where your blog URL is. If you click that, the next URL that comes up should have a "/feeds" or some extension of that sort. You want to copy that entire RSS Feed URL into your Brazen Careerist blog feed, which is in the top right hand corner of your profile. BACK >>

How do I get a blog post Featured?

On Brazen Careerist, we're looking to get the best, most relelvant blog content straight to our community by our very own network of bloggers. If you're in Generation Y and you have a great blog post idea that you want featured, we can make it happen! Just be sure the topic your picking has a clear opinion and some value within it-- it can even be controversial. Whatever it is, we value well written content.

The people to get in touch with about being featured on the site are our community editors, who manage all of the content on the site.
