As much excitement I have for charting the next phase of my career, there is still a part of me that is terrified about jumping in with both feet.

I just got a mentor from Google by using LinkedIn. Took me 2 years, but I have it now. You can always change your mind later, you don't have to do what you are doing the rest of your life.

She works in the field or organizational development and change management. I have received quality guidance from her. but no matter how much people tell you that you can first, it won't be real until you to jump and experience flight for yourself. That is exactly what I am doing now. I am confident but still uneasy because my latest venture is such a different field from where I started and have my most experience and successes.

My "DREAM" is for my children to be brought up in the same type of healthy home I was. IN ORDER FOR THAT TO HAPPEN, there are numerous goals that have to be reached to get there. With each goal, when each little task is accomplished that gets me 'closer' to that DREAM, I become more confident; and in a sense, get over the fear of that BIG OMINOUS WORD.

Kim Luu: You'll never get over your fear. Just don't over think it. Make sure you have a safety net and then jump. Jump baby steps if you have to.

After watching a documentary about Warren Buffet on National Geographic, I am feeling more confident in my plans. I have done everything I need to academically, and now with securing a research site at a social networking-based organization (for my doctoral program), I know that I am on the right path. Once again, your comments prove my gut feeling about social media as an educational tool.
