Rebecca Thorman They say that productivity drops dramatically after the 4th of July until the beginning of September. (http://bit.ly/ba5Sm8) My company is actually revving up, but it's still difficult sometimes to get into the swing of things. I try to exercise and do as much possible outside so when I'm inside working I don't feel bad about missing the sun. How do you fight the summer productivity blahs?

Wilson Usman: I like to wake up an hour or two than the normal to get more things done sooner and work less around the end of the day.

I always like to spend half of my lunch break on a walk...it just infuses that care free feeling of being outdoors into the remainder of my work day.

I give that about 10 minutes to kick in while pacing around the apartment with CNN or the radio on, then it's 10-15 minutes of high-intensity exercise. From there it's the usual shower, dress, head to work.

I'm good until about 1pm and by that point I usually do another quick workout in the office (thanks be to air conditioning or I would not do this!), then lunch. Those two combined with a couple of cups of coffee and copious amounts of water carry me through the rest of the day.

I also try to get outside for a few minutes every couple of hours. Sunshine does a body good :)

I have a couple walking buddies which makes it all the more enjoyable. We don't always talk about work, either!
@Rebecca, at my old company I gave one of my friends a puffy paper sun (with sunglasses) to hang in her cube. It helped her all year round. :)

I am more of a Winter person, so I get more productive in the Summer just because I do not like being out in the heat. When it is very cold in the Winter I stay inside as well. If it is between 30 and 50 is when I get less productive since that is when I want to be outside enjoying the weather.
