TOP IDEA: Maura V. Pingor At a women's conference, we got divided by age groups (20s, 30s, 40s...). They asked questions around "what (music, hairdo, etc) was popular during your last year in highschool?" It was fun to compare the answers from each generation. The best was "what was the latest technology?" The younger ones had never seen a typewriter & the older ones didn't undertand the iphone. We were all amazed with how much has changed. What do you think it's the best technolgy revolution of our / of all times?

I love having a question and being able to go and look up the answer right away, without having to wait to go to the library or open an encyclopedia hoping for an entry. The PC paved the way for the internet, social media, and the entire communications revolution we're currently enjoying. People used to wonder what anyone would possibly do with their own computer, and now look at all the amazing artwork, communications, and productivity happening globally! I not only have 1 computer - 1 have four in my house. Plus iPhones, Blacknerry, etc. Technology makes life more interesting!

I worked in the wireless industry for 13 years. Cell phones are glorified radios basically. If Edison and others hadn't discovered how to transmit electricity and develop radios we wouldn't have television, telephones, fax machines, cell phones, iPhone or computers. The basics focus around developing electronics from the basics Edison and others discovered and developed. I can only imagine what Maura's 3 1/2 year old will embrace from electronics by the time he's 10. I remember using an operator to place a phone call, party lines in the country, getting our first color TV, and seeing movies go from b&w to color, and I'm not that old. What advances will we see in 10 years?

It is rapidly changing how we communicate at the most basic level, how we plan our lives, and what we do for work and play. But I'm of this generation, so it makes sense that I think it is an important revolution. My mother would probably point to the wide-spread adoption of the television, and my grandparents would probably think the radio was the biggest revolution.
