Zachary Stark Jones I have a raging hate here, after the 2nd occurrence of a UI problem that I find off-the-wall bad. I come to the site, I think of something to contribute, I write a reply, but I wasn't logged in so it disappears into the damn ether. FB, among others, sets a general precedent that if I have a cookie for the site, when I come back, I'm directed to login first - particularly when clicking on a link inbound from email. It's very wise - it presumes that on a Social site my login is needed to post.

If you're not logged into the site you shouldn't even be getting a reply box. Could you give me an example of a page that you're replying on when you're not logged on? We certainly don't want anybody spending time writing a reply only to have it disappear when they click submit, so if it's allowing this then it's a bug and we'll try to fix it as soon as possible.

I now realize this is a bigger issue than I thought before. We will remove this ASAP (today).

@Zachary, as for the cookie solution, I'm not exactly sure how that would work. It doesn't seem like something we could fix today, but I want to understand how that would work. So, everyone that doesn't have a cookie will just see the anonymous view directly, but if you do have the cookie it would ask you to log in and then redirect you to the post. Is that correct?

Photis Patriotis: Btw, thank you for bringing this to our attention. I'm very sorry that you lost your content.

I'll have to see if that's the case when I haven't visited in a few days and (presumably) my cookie no longer maintains my login.
