TOP IDEA: Jenn Pedde My bright idea of the day - Follow Up. So incredibly important to the development of yourself, your project, your ambitions, your ideas. Without doubling back, checking in, building on your work, nothing will really get accomplished.

Stanley Lee: What about the period between each follow ups? Also, how would you suggest adding value to the follow ups so that the contacts react normally?

Follow up exactly when you said you would (generally 2 weeks). Inbetween, keep job searching - don't put all your eggs in one basket. If you're working on a project, keep developing it, and at the beginning of every week or month, go back to the beginning and look at your notes, recall the people you said you would. Be organized, keep working. As far as value adding - be yourself. A couple of quick lines, "Hi ___, I was just checking in to see about ___ and what your thoughts are. If you have any further questions for me, feel free to get in touch. Hope your week is going great." Kind of stuff. Possibilities are endless - just make sure you do it, because people are looking for those skills.

You really have to feel it out. Exhaust your options, make sure you make a valiant effort. Sometimes things just aren't meant to be, but at least you did what you were supposed to do by following up initially.
