TOP IDEA: Kirk A. Norris So I started a blog of a fictional story that I am writing. Each post will equal one chapter. I'd really like to have it made into a graphic novel at some point. Doing the blog and making it a point to post a chapter a week is somewhat of an experiment to see if it will force me to be more steady about working on the story. There are some drawbacks to the format when you are writing fiction - for example text-heavy blogs are often reliant on pictures to break it up for the reader, but it is a very useful tool (I've found), to encourage you to write frequently and get feedback from readers. My blog is at watercooleretiquette.wordpress.com if you want to have a look at it.

I agree, my biggest concern at first was having such a text heavy blog. In the end I decided there was really no harm in doing it.

I really want to publish this as a graphic novel. Unfortunately I am not a good enough artist to draw it myself and be happy with the outcome.

So we'll see, best case scenario I end up with a bunch of people enjoying my writing and it works out like I planned. Worst case, no one reads it but I still complete the work because the blog has trained me to do so. (I'm overwhelmingly optimistic sometimes :P)

I'll check out your blog when I get a chance. Thanks again for the advice!

Your cause is much more noble than mine, I'm just writing a fictional story. I bookmarked your blog and I will certainly keep reading.

Keep fighting the good fight.

Hey Alicia,

I'll admit that it was my biggest concern before posting the blog. It very well could happen (if it does I guess that means my story was pretty good :P)

With that said, I decided I'd rather share this story, albeit in an unconventional method, than keep it in a drawer forever. There are other avenues to publish the work, sure. However, I want to see if I can make this work this way. I could be way wrong, but I also could be right. So in summary, yes I am concerned about it, but my sense of adventure overwhelms my sense of fear.
