Boon Chew I've seen a few more people join the Network of late. Some questions for you guys - what new lessons have you been learning or care to share from your experiences in practicing UX at your workplace?

We have been making some major, educated guess-type design decisions this year, and we'll be testing them. We just ordered Steve Krug's books, _Don't Make Me Think_ and _Rocket Surgery Made Easy_ to get started with testing. Both books are highly recommended by my STC colleagues.

When I did our first user research a few weeks ago, I realized I was validating assumptions rather than learn something new, which I had originally anticipated. Still those validations meant that everyone was on the same page, which was excellent.

We will be polling a group of customers (using SurveyMonkey.com) soon to test some assumptions about users and info indexing. We'll also use some Qs to see if perceptions of our docs have improved over the last couple of years. After our upcoming move to a new, task-based format, then we can gather info on whether users like the new format.

Video is the best way to collect all the behavioral data, then people analyze it for code (behavior) sequences.

This helps me contribute my UX improvements, and aggregate improvements from the others on my team.
