How does the Brazen Careerist blog community work?

We use your blogs feed to bring content into our database. From there, we select what posts will be featured on our homepage each day. The rest of the content that is relevant to our audience is grouped into one of our categories as snippets linking back to the author’s original post.

Our goal is to broaden your reach as a blogger, so when we use your content we’ll always attribute it to you and your blog. (back to top)

Are you going to change what I write?

No, unless you want us to. Some bloggers have asked us to edit their work and we’re happy to do it. But unless there’s some sort of major grammatical error in your text, we won’t change anything unless asked.

We sometimes change headlines. Just like other shared media sites, we tailor headlines to our audience. And it’s not necessarily that your headline wasn’t good, we just know what our audience responds kindly to, and how to get your post and your blog, more clicks. (back to top)

If I’m in the community, do I always have to write about career-related topics?

No. One thing that we don’t want to do is pigeonhole your blog. You’re free to write about anything you want on your site, which is why we have an editor. Our editor goes through all of our content daily and decides what is most relevant to the Brazen Careerist community.

And if there’s a certain post that you don’t want syndicated on our site, all you need to do is let us know and we won’t run it. (back to top)

Am I required to blog a certain amount?

No. But we encourage our bloggers to update their content regularly. The people who get the most out of our community are updating their blogs 2-3 times per week and are actively contributing to dialogues.

With that said, we understand that you have other things going on and we’re not going to penalize you for that. If you know that you’re going to be taking a hiatus from blogging ahead of time, just let us know. (back to top)

What else does the community offer besides blogging?

Plenty! As a constantly-evolving community we’ll be adding tons of new features as we move forward. Here are a few things we are offering now:

  • Forum discussion, including members-only groups
  • Networking with other bloggers, career coaches and professionals of all ages
  • A chance to publish photographs to the daily Flickr
  • Opportunities to get syndicated through our partner, Featurewell
  • A chance to promote yourself and your blog outside of your normal audience (back to top)

I have other authors on my blog, what about them?

If you’re part of a group blog, we’re happy to accommodate all of its members. But if someone would like their content to remain unpublished, we respect that too. And it doesn’t mean you, or any other interested members of your blog can’t participate.

We normally don’t publish guest bloggers. It can make things complicated. But if you give us fair warning (at least 48 hours) about someone you’d like to see published on our site, we will do our best to make it work. (back to top)

I’m not a twentysomething, are there ways for me to get involved with Brazen Careerist?

Absolutely! If you’re a career coach, please inquire with us about participating in Coachology, a great place to connect with career-focused young professionals.

If you’re an author looking to reach the Gen-Y audience, ask us about the Author’s Corner where you can write a guest post for our audience.

And we’re always looking for people with new and interesting ideas, so if you think you have something for us, let us know. (back to top)
