It just took took up way too much time and there wasn't even any scholarship money for it (at the time). Instead I wish I pursued a leadership position in my sorority, got more involved with campus clubs and activities and had one or two more internships. I regret not establishing relationships with professors that could be greatly benefiting me right now as well. I really came to this realization when I stayed an extra year for my MBA. I got very involved then, which made me realize my mistake as an undergrad. 11 hours ago

I did a stint in the Army, then worked overseas for the feds for eight years then went to college. You really need to go when you're 18 to get the full blown experience and capitalize on your alumni connections early in your career. At 30, I treated it like a job: get in, get it done, move on. 7 hours ago

Is Gen-Y more reluctant to use Social Media for Job Hunting??? A recent DrWoody/TweetMyJOBS survey points to yes: http://ow.ly/8XpOR

How does Facebook figure into your career, job search approach? I just wrote a piece for Fortune.com about how and why Gen Y doesn't share its job or employment info on Facebook as much as Gen X and Boomers do - it's at http://bit.ly/wTtt1g . (Research by Dan Schawbel's Millennial Branding.) It made me wonder how much of our career information does show up on Facebook, and how that's changing. So how do you use Facebook professionally? And any advice for others who are just starting on this?

And a few businesses that train project managers who might be good to contact about jobs, or even teaching classes. Good luck! 17 hours ago

I'm trying to change careers by leveraging my skills into an entry level analyst position. I think that the skills that make for a good IT developer/analyst/project manager are very similar to those of a good analyst. I am in a position where I can afford to start over, so leaving behind the old environment and salary scale are non-issues. Does this look odd? How does one convey that they are not just job hunting, but sincere about starting anew at ground zero?

Sandra Kitchen:
Great question Dean, I'm in a similar situation myself. Thanks for being brave enough to ask it. And kudos to Maura for honestly answering it. 8 hours ago

I think we have reached a consensus! :)
@Dean--I do the same thing with my FB/LI accounts. 5 days ago

No way. There should be a boundary between personal and professional. The smart one knows where that boundary is. 9 hours ago

Why I love it here @ Citi? The picture on my profile is me at the Resume Writing + Interview Tips presentation I made for 40+ High School students that came to our Tampa Citi campus for Junior Achievement Job Shadow Day! Love the impact I get to make in our youth while doing my job!

Make a comeback after a bad interview. If you have a legitimate reason for messing up the first interview, maybe you could get a second chance. My Glassdoor blog post looks at some ways back - http://bit.ly/zk5rWP .
I'd love to hear your experiences with making a comeback in the hiring process - and any strategies that worked for you.

What are people's views on algebra taught using the Socratic method? Are some ideas better learned through lecture than discovery or visa-versa? Thoughts?

I am finding that it is helping us have deeper conversations. My belief is that there is not much difference between reading and math so if I were teaching a math related topic, I would probably try the Socratic method. I'm curious what others who do teach math would say. 1 day ago

I was inspired last week from an article I read on Fast Company, which outlined how businesses and individuals can build their brands through quick, to-the-point videos. We're following a similar model in 2012 for Get Busy Media and will be including more video in our content moving forward...to provide users another means to engage with us. We would love to hear your thoughts on how you use video for your small biz--> http://bit.ly/zdWZ6b
Would you ever make a crazy video resume like this? What do you think, thumbs up or down? http://blog.sfgate.com/gettowork/2010/08/06/no-this-job-seeker-isnt-berserk-hes-berzack/
We all have "things" that make us feel safe and ready to take on the world. Other than your ID, keys, and cell phone, what is something that you never leave home without?
What are your thoughts on StumbleUpon? The platform enjoyed a banner year in 2011 and has more plans to grow in 2012 (looking to expand into international markets and build out its mobile offerings).

When you're in a job interview, do you worry about the part of the job where you lack experience rather than the (larger) part that's in your comfort zone?
