
This is one case of "build it and they will come." Spending time to change perceptions of people who have a comfortable understanding of your skill set and strengths (that they can easily sell, by the way) is going to be a painful journey.
Instead, spend your off-hours building up your creative and literary portfolio by writing something great, or blogging, or fishing for your own clients. You should reveal your talents by pulling back the curtain to show what you have done, not by begging for permission to do the work.
