Elaine Basham’s career has come full circle – and the work she developed a passion for early in her professional life still excites her today. Her first job out of college was Assistant to the Director of the Career Planning and Placement Center at St. Louis University. Her responsibilities included working with graduating seniors to craft professional resumes and polish their interviewing skills. She acted as a key liaison between corporate representatives visiting the campus to recruit new hires and students interested in scoring an interview with a top company. She also worked with alumni who sought her out for assistance with job search strategies and resume updates.
After more than 20 years as a writer, art director and on-air radio personality, as well as a customer service manager and department director, Elaine once again finds herself working with executives and professionals worldwide to develop compelling, high-impact resumes designed to help them achieve their career objectives.
In 1998, Elaine joined one of the largest resume writing and distribution firms in the country, where she quickly became one of the top-producing Senior Resume Writers, and was later promoted to Resume Department Director. There, she worked with clients at every stage of their careers, from entry-level professionals to the C-level leadership at companies ranging from small startup organizations to Fortune 10 firms. She has written winning resumes for individuals in more than 30 countries and in every conceivable industry and sector.
In 2005, the company was sold to a group of investors and closed its doors in September of 2006. Elaine immediately began fielding phone calls from former clients, alliance partners, recruiters and others who urged her to start her own resume-writing business.
At the same time, Sue Sarkesian, a former Director and Senior Advisor at the same company was getting very similar kind of support and encouragement from former clients, colleagues and strategic business partners. Convinced that they could make a real difference in helping people reach their professional goals, Sue and Elaine decided the time was right to join forces, The Resume Group was formed, and the rest, as they say, is history.
Sue brings more than 15 years of comprehensive experience in all facets of Career Consulting. She has a solid, in-depth understanding of the senior-level and professional-level job markets and valuable insight into highly competitive, fast-changing industries, as well as up-to-the-minute hiring trends. Sue provides clients with an objective look at their marketability, helps them uncover new career options and focus their search by targeting the right companies. She works with each client to develop a dynamic job search strategy that leverages a variety of tactics, resources and options to help ensure success.
Together Sue and Elaine have put together an all-encompassing program designed to help their clients take control of their career paths and achieve immediate and long-term professional objectives. They work closely with each individual to customize and craft the right resume, then develop the right search strategy to get that resume in front of the right people at the right companies. In addition, they have cultivated strategic partnerships with leading Executive and Career Coaches who work to help guide clients through the interview process, overcome any obstacles, field tough questions about their professional history, and negotiate the best compensation package possible.
