When you’re young, time is infinite and you feel invincible.I was 8-years-old when a tornado swept through our neighborhood. Not fully understanding death, but thinking we were going to die, my main concern was to save the two most important things in my life - my stuffed monkey "Spunky" and our family cat "Min." Unfortunately, I couldn’t hold both. So I had to choose. The family cat won.

As I sit here now, crouched against a stable wall on the roof deck of my building, feeling so still and so calm, I write in complete darkness. The city lights elicit just enough brightness to see the traction of pen ink against my moleskin pages. I look up at the waning moon and feel this deep sense of satisfaction and peace inside. It’s amazing how quiet New York is, if you want it to be.

Future masters of public policy happily walking away from our last thesis session, balloons in tow.  Though there’s no cool way to ride the metro as a dude holding a big blue star mylar balloon, it now floats victoriously on my ceiling.

I’ve been running a lifestream style blog at Posterous for a while.  Generally, I just send along interesting articles or quick thoughts.  Posterous is a great tool and I like it more each time I use it.

Not only was my thesis advisor awesome with comments and advice along the way, for our last class he brought us pizza, ice cream, beer AND balloons!  Best advisor ever.

Wow, over a month since I’ve had anything to say.  Or anything to write at least.

We’ve wrapped up the major kitchen work.  We still have quite a bit left to do, mostly hanging a few cabinets, cutting toe kick, doing some painting, and adding handles to our cabinets.

Every once in awhile, I need to make a happy list to remind me of things I’m really happy about.  Usually it’s brought on by an age-anxiety attack where I get worried I haven’t done enough and I’m too old.  When that happens, Ashley or Malisa have to talk me down and remind me that I do have my whole life ahead of me.  I’m sure it’s quite humorous to watch.

I’ve had my fair share of installs in shared hosting, but sometimes simple things like SVN can get very tricky with hosting providers like Hostmonster or BlueHost. I hope that this shell will work as well for you as it has for me.

Despite the fact that I did not wear the pink Georgetown bowtie, Policy Prom was still a great night!

1. Which book has been on your shelves the longest?

Probably the children’s book about the adventures of a tooth fairy and me. Remember those stands in the malls in the ’80s where they’d put your child’s name in the book and print it right there for you. (Wow, 80s technology, that must’ve been annoying at the time.) Anyway, it’s a thin little memento from my childhood.

I rarely write personal posts about my life but I think its fitting on Valentines day to give a snap shot of the other side of my life--my personal life.I've been married for 8 years to a wonderful man. My marriage is not your average marriage.
