This has to be a bad week at the office at Susan G. Komen. I'm not judging. This could happen to any organization. When you are passionate about finding money for your cause, sometimes you will do anything that comes your way in an effort to generate more revenue. I get that.

After excessive time in board/campaign/committee meetings, I’ve observed that in most cases, by the end of a meeting, there are always those who are drained and  feel like the meeting was pointless, and there are those who feel energized and have a sense of accomplishment.

Many times I've blogged about the importance of nonprofit operations. Ever so often accounting, human resources, and technology practices get pushed aside in a nonprofit organization because program work is prioritized as being more important. This is fine and dandy until a crisis occurs, like someone embezzles money from the organization or a disgruntled employee sues the organization. These types of things happen more often than not.

I’ve been lucky enough to meet and date a really amazing guy: smart, funny, athletic, strong values and family ties, oh, and socially conscious.  But when you have your calling, you become focused on different activities and end up reevaluating priorities.

I've been really busy with school right now to write a blog post about Haiti, however I just received an e-mail from my colleague Meg Busse who works for Idealist aka Action without Borders. Her e-mail provides info on how to donate to Haiti. Thanks Meg for the info!I've been getting lots of emails from friends about the best org to donate to to help in Haiti.

I was in the middle of writing a blog post about a community impact study when I saw that Give and Take featured a lively discussion (hosted by Ken Berger) about organizational impact and community impact.

Lately I've had the song "If I had a million dollars"in my head and been thinking what I'd do with a million dollars. Nope..I wouldn't buy a house, or a car! I would DONATE it all, every last cent to the wonderful charities I have worked for over the years.

Everywhere I turn these days, I get so overwhelmed by the massive sense of dread and despair. The Swine Flu is spreading, industry is closing, people are losing jobs, money is tight, and people are losing their homes.

I'm starting to talk about social media more and more.

Yesterday, I performed on the stage of the Belcourt Theatre. This Nashville landmark has hosted the top musical acts, screened award-winning films and also served as a home for silent films and the Grand Ole Opry. So, I have no idea why they let me come talk about social media on that same stage. But they did. And I did. Here's a video from my talk.
