There are books out there (a lot of books) about raising capital for your business, and there are infinitely more books on the subject of entrepreneurship. Some even endeavor to address both subjects. However, few, if any, are written by someone who can truthfully claim to fully understand the world of venture capital (VC) from both sides of the table.

I almost didn’t write a review of Barbara Kingsolver’s Animal, Vegetable, Miracle because 1) it’s so last year, and 2) you should just blow off reading this review and go get the book.  But it also feels odd to not review what, for me, has become a foundation of my understanding of local food, even if a ton of other people have already said what I’m about to say.
