Andrea Zak

Andrea Zak is a twentysomething looking for meaningful and satisfying work and play. Since college, she has tried out life as a spinning instructor, temp, event planner, teaching assistant, program coordinator, market researcher...the list goes on.

Zak currently teaches mat pilates and goes on scores of informational and job interviews to figure out what’s next: freelance-brain-for-hire or a corporate gig. She volunteers frequently with Step Up Women’s Network, a national non-profit membership organization committed to strengthening community resources for women and girls.

An avid reader and news junkie, Zak uses her blog to rant about politics, corporate America, the environment and anything else that raises at least one of her eyebrows.

She holds a M.A. in Communication Management from the University of Southern California and a B.A. in History & Sociology of Science from the University of Pennsylvania. Raised in New Jersey, Zak now resides in Los Angeles where she lives in awe of year-round, outdoor farmer’s markets and cupcake bakeries.

Andrea Zak’s blog is SchizoFrenetic.

Whether or not your company shells out for business cards, it’s in your best interest to have a set and keep several on your person at all times. Anytime you leave your apartment (and when your roommate has guests) you have an opportunity to build your network.

Carrying on the family gene pool is a pretty black and white issue for most, and while women are more than willing to put off having kids in the name of building a career, most that I meet hope to have one or two of their own some day. Not me.

From Obama’s volunteerism platform to California’s Governor creating a State Cabinet position dedicated to volunteerism, the notion of paying it forward seems to have reached critical mass in the United States.
