Rachel Canfield

Rachel Canfield is a senior at James Madison University (JMU) and will graduate in May with a degree in public relations and print journalism. For the past two years, she has worked as an Editorial Assistant and Student Researcher for the Journal of Mine Action, an international publication about explosive remnants of war.

She also works as Managing Editor of The Bluestone, JMU's 400-page yearbook, and a student speech consultant at the university's Communication Resource Center.

Through her four years at school, she has volunteered for WXJM, JMU's student-run radio station, and the Mid-Atlantic College Radio Conference (MACRoCk).

During the summer of 2007, Rachel interned in Washington, D.C., with a global strategic communications consultancy and hopes to start a career in public relations after graduation.

In the workplace, staying in your comfort zone isn’t good. I know what I should do, what I have to do, but I can’t actually bring myself to do it. Just ticking tasks off a list are not good enough, even if I tick them off efficiently and effectively.
