Meg Roberts, a student at the University of South Florida (USF) in Tampa, will be graduating in May 2008 with a B.A. in public relations. Throughout her undergraduate career, Meg took advantage of numerous opportunities to enhance her knowledge of PR, marketing, advertising, and strategic thinking.
At USF, Meg served as the Director of Member Services for the Public Relations Student Society of America, Director of Marketing and Public Affairs for Student Government, Research Director for the USF Bateman Competition team and the Public Relations Coordinator for the Panhellenic Council. In addition to these positions, Meg also held internships with Environmental PR Group and Baymeadows Primary Care where she gained specialized experience in government, social responsibility and healthcare.
To learn about the field outside of the classroom and the office, Meg started her own blog where she discusses current issues in public relations and communications.
Outside of the classroom, Meg has a number of interests. She loves traveling and spent the summer of 2007 in Spain and France. She also enjoys running, big cities, Ireland, Audrey Hepburn, the Latin Quarter in Paris, New York City, the Boston Red Sox, Spanish culture, reading, taking road trips with her friends, making people laugh, and history.
Meg Robert's blog is PR Interactive.
I don’t mind if 500 readers turns into 200, and 200 turns into 10–those are still 10 people I’m connecting to through my writing, something that would be much more difficult to accomplish without social media and blogging.
It is hard for me (and many others) to identify Facebook as a professional tool that could help organizations market themselves, when all we know it as was a site to stalk old high school friends and ex-boyfriends.
If I were to @BarackObama on Twitter a question about his platform, what are the odds he’d get back to me or even see the Tweet amidst his 40,000+ followers? Does John McCain actually check to see how many people are watching his YouTube videos?
…what do I do to stay afloat in the ocean that is today’s mass media? Well, I could give the typical list of everything I use… but instead, I’m going to copy Kate’s character and give you a how-to, in reverse…
As a new—brand new!—PR professional, this tug-o-war between public relations practitioners and the media is exhausting. For those of you who don’t know about this already, another public outing of PR agencies that apparently spam bloggers and journalists has been created […]
To be successful in any industry, you have to differentiate yourself from the competition. Thankfully, building a personal brand has never been easier.
Apply for that job you think you aren’t qualified for, or submit your entry to win an award you think will probably go to someone else. You never know when the people selecting the winners will think that YOU are the perfect candidate.
On Friday night, I stood with a group of my friends in the University of South Florida gym wearing bright green shirts that said “Dance Marathon: The Party with a Cause.” We were participating in Dance Marathon, a nation-wide event that raises money for the Children’s Miracle Network, and were two hours into the twelve […]
“Greetings, earthlings. Take me to your nearest 7-11 so I can buy some Doritos.” Not the words I thought extra-terrestrials would be uttering in their first conversations with us, but maybe Doritos is on to something. Doritos new contest invites the British public to film 30-second spots about life here on Earth while simultaneously promoting the cheesy […]
With only one month and 12 days (but who’s counting?) til graduation, most college seniors are running around frantically, trying to perfect their resumes, set up interviews, and land a job. Though many of us are still trying to see the light at the end of the tunnel, there are innumerable success stories that might […]
