Jamie Weinstein

Jamie Weinstein is currently a syndicated columnist with the North Star Writers Group.

Jamie graduated from Cornell University with a double majored in Government and History in 2006. While far above Cayuga’s waters, Jamie was an online columnist for The Cornell Review and a weekly columnist for The Cornell Daily Sun. During his senior year, he was named one of the “25 Most Influential Cornell Undergrads” by The Cornell Daily Sun for his provocative writing and campus activism.

After graduating from Cornell in 2006, Jamie worked as a Collegiate Network Journalism Fellow at Roll Call Newspaper in Washington, D.C. , a paper now forever remembered for breaking the story about Sen. Larry “Wide Stance” Craig’s shenanigans in a Minnesota airport bathroom. While at Roll Call, Jamie wrote for the Capitol Hill paper and worked as the assistant to its executive editor—and Fox News “All-Star”—Mort Kondracke.

Besides Roll Call, Jamie’s writings have appeared in numerous publications, including The Weekly Standard, The American Spectator Online, and FrontPage Magazine, among others. His writings tend to focus on national politics and international affairs. He also enjoys the occasional satire.

A frequent traveler, Jamie has traveled the world, from China to Israel to Cuba and throughout Europe and South America. He has also traveled frequently this campaign season to cover the 2008 Presidential race in person.

Romney has been estimated to be worth in excess of $200 million dollars. After his primary campaign, this figure is probably about $40 to $50 million dollars lower. Spending another $50 million dollars on a McCain/Romney ticket would be a tidy sum and perhaps make Romney think twice before accepting the VP slot—even though we know he really wants it.

For all President Bush’s faults, if Islamists have gotten the message that the United States won’t back down to their intimidation, then well maybe Bush has done a few things right. And just maybe we should have a President who will continue the offensive.

As the saying goes, the show must go on. In the coming days, NBC will have to begin to consider who will replace the late, great Tim Russert on Meet the Press. Of course, no one will be able to replace him. But someone will have to take over the hosting duties of the show.

McClellan claims that Bush’s ultimate motivation to invade Iraq was not weapons of mass destruction but rather to create a democratic state in the Middle East. My first reaction to this is that it isn’t any secret that one of the secondary goals of the Iraq War was to try to set up a democratic government to replace Saddam’s dictatorship.
