Erik Folgate lives in Jacksonville, Florida with his beautiful wife and crazy dog. He graduated from the University of Florida in 2005 with a business degree, and moved to Jacksonville to pursue a better position in the insurance industry. In his spare time, he loves playing sports, working out, reading, blogging and playing Xbox 360 (Call of Duty 4 in particular!).
Erik has a strong passion for helping others find the career that they were made to be in, because he was one of those people that never had a clear direction with where they fit in the "real world". He has a lot of professional interests and passions, but there was no college major that really captured him. He started realizing in conversations with friends and family that he has a strong desire to coach others find the passions inside of them and turn those passions into a rewarding and fulling career. The ErikFolgate.com career development blog was started to be a resource for those seeking a meaningful and fulfilling career.
Erik Folgate's blog is Earn What You are Worth.

But, there are many insurance products out there that are necessary to protect you and your family.
Choices among your work beneftis are nice, but sometimes financial ones can become a little overwhelming, especially when it’s a new full-time job. One benefit that you don’t want to pass up is a 401(k) plan–if it’s the right type of plan.
I’ve explained in the past that if you want to get ahead in life and pursue your passions, you must first figure out a way to get out of the rat race. Getting out of the rat race involves earning enough money to get out of the cycle of paying bills, wiping out your checking account, and starting the cycle over again the next month.
Letters after your name are nothing more than a status symbol. It’s a way to boast about your credentials. So my challenge to you is to let your work product and customer service be your credentials, instead.
There’s nothing you can do about the fact that some employers will pull your credit report and credit score to get a better idea of how you manage your money and your life.
Your body language will speak louder than what’s coming out of your mouth. A good interviewer will read how you react to a question rather than what you actually say. So watch out for these five deadly sins.
There are so many new web applications out there to organize your life, but many end up complicating your life more than it was before. So, my GTD method involves using iGoogle, the customizable Google homepage.
My friend recently introduced me to Jott, which is a pretty cool idea that is currently in beta. Basically, you sign up for a new account on their website, give them your phone number and create a list of contacts that you call or email the most. Then, you call their 1-800 number, […]
