At age 20, Erica Douglass started a web hosting company, with the stated goal of being able to pay her cable modem bill every month. Little did she know that her small side business would turn into a million-dollar moneymaker! In 2007, Erica “temporarily retired” after selling her business, and now is committed to teaching other young people how to handle money and finances. She is a big believer in both frugality and entrepreneurship. She blogs about saving, making, and investing money and gives out business and marketing advice on her blog at erica.biz.
Erica Douglass's blog is erica.biz.
In August 2006, I predicted U.S. real estate and economy news for 2007. I made some shocking predictions.
Perhaps the most interesting prediction I made was comparing Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to Enron. I thought then, and still do believe, that this will make Enron look like chump change. In the August 2006 post, I […]
Apparently I attend marketing seminars in my sleep now, because I just had the most interesting dream. Since I think it will help you as much as it just helped me, I want to share it with you.
In my dream, I was at a marketing seminar, sitting at a round table with a few friends. […]
Stop killing yourself by creating a business that requires thousands of customers to be profitable, and start figuring out where your potential customers’ real pain points are. Then build your company as a solution to their problem.
You will be much less susceptible to burnout, if you use frugality sensibly: cut down on material expenses. With the money you save, hire someone to do the tasks you don’t enjoy doing. Then, invest your new free time into growing your business and yourself.
You create your reality and circumstances. If you let someone have power over you — especially if that person is abusive and/or making bad decisions — without standing up for yourself, what you are saying to the universe is: “Universe, this abuse is okay with me.” This takes your power away.
Be prepared: This post is designed to get you thinking differently about your business and your life. Your ego is guaranteed to raise objections to this type of thinking. As those objections surface, write them down, and consider how you can overcome them as you give this advice a try.
Just About Everything You Need to Know About When It’s Best to Buy Your Own Place Instead of Renting
Erica’s worked really hard to find all of the tools you’ll need to figure out when buying a house makes financial sense–no matter where you live.
I had a revelation today: I don’t really like working. I suspect you’re grinning by now. If not, you should be. I bet you’re thinking: “This is a revelation? Seriously?”
We all have goals, dreams, and hopes, but all too often they’re quashed as we join the rat race to make more money, to then spend that money, which means we have to make more money, to spend more money…an infinite treadmill that, judging by many of the statistics I’ve read recently, some of us are never able to get off of.
Here is the exact method I’ve used to save thousands of dollars on product purchases. Done consistently, this will take you less than five minutes per purchase. I use this system on every single product I buy online; it can save you hundreds if you play your cards right.
