I’m like Gen Y’s big sister. My three younger Gen Y brothers would be more than willing to tell you that I have taken the role of big sister sometimes a little too seriously. But like any good big sis’, I have some advice for you.
Can you get ahead even with poor word choice? Sure, you can. But sounding like the professional that you are will make it a little easier in your journey. I’m not talking about using big, fancy words or some kind of industry jargon–I’m talking about watching the words we use all the time.

Not every conversation will work out well. That’s ok. If you get shut down quickly, try your best not to let it bother you. Don’t beat yourself up when you say something stupid. It happens to everyone.
