This morning, lots of women dressed up SUPER nicely for Easter service. Was pantyhose part of your wardrobe? From church to the job interview, the pantyhose question is thrown back and forth endlessly. Looking on the web, it seems that pantyhose is a great topic of debate for women (and sometimes the men chime in) but it looks like there is only one true answer* that all should follow. I decided to take my pantyhose fears to the wonderful people at on last Monday’s #jobhuntchat (super awesome/smart/funny/insightful people). Here’s some of the convo:

*So my answer that I’ve gotten out of all this is:
BE COMFORTABLE!!!!
If you are going to feel out of place by not wearing them, do it. If you are like me and can’t stand them, don’t wear them. If someone turns me down for a job because I wasn’t wearing pantyhose, I’m sure I wouldn’t want to work for them long term anyway. As women, we are judged for SO many things on the job hunt but pantyhose shouldn’t be one of them! Let the real you shine through instead of being worried about if you picked the right color pantyhose that morning!

For me, I wear pantyhose when I'm showing leg (ie skirt) or to protect my feet against blisters (ie high heels). Knee highs are a good compromise, especially under pants or slacks, because I don't feel the need to be completely clothed toe-to-waist in hose.
However, despite panty hose being uncomfortable, I do have to say that like high heels and a freshly dry-cleaned pantsuit, it can be a real confidence-booster in the workplace or at formal events. What can I say? I guess I'm still a child playing dress up. Certain clothes can make you feel ready for anything.

Go pantyhose. They do make me feel more formal and professional and also probably give that message to certain employers. And I'm all for "freeing of female oppression" but man I love hiding my blotchy legs and getting a little control-top action.
So that's my confession. I don't know why people are so anti-pantyhose (I'm often made to feel old-fashioned for wearing them). But to each his own!!!

I am proud to be anti-pantyhose! At my current work place, we are required to wear them with any open-toed shoes (even peak-a-boo style) - they might has well be asking me to wear socks with my sandles!
If a skirt is above my knee, then yes I will wear them - however I try not to buy skirts that are that short =)

I am completely anti-pantyhose. To be honest they freak me out a little. They're plastic-based fleshtone wraps, meant to make your legs look like Not-Legs. I don't understand why that's attractive - fake-tone-legs seems so much more pointless than a tie for men - and I won't participate :) I do love tights, though, because they're warm, so there's a POINT.

If I'm going to a formal occasion, then I'll wear them...probably. But on regular occasions and for work, you generally won't catch me in them at all. Tights are another thing entirely. I love wearing colored tights as an accessory to certain outfits. I'm not entirely sure why I'm pro-tights but anti-pantyhose come to think of it.

I never realized there was a debate going on about pantyhose. I'm not against them but I'm not really for them either. I just hate when you buy a brand new pair and as you put them on they snag right away. What a waste of money.

I know exactly what you mean! It seems like everytime I buy a new pair I catch them on something. I mainly wear them in the winter but I also don't like to. I'm not sure why but they are just uncomfortable to me while tights and leggings I love!

I was kind of spoiled too in a way. I took dance and we had to wear tights (which are even more uncomfortable to get into) but it took a lot more to get them to rip.

haha I know! Sometimes they come in handy but I definitely couldn't wear them all the time.
