We just got back from the ERE Expo in San Diego, CA, where we unveiled the Social Resume concept to 400+ recruiters and HR professionals. Needless to say, they loved it.
Time is a valuable commodity for talent seekers. Long, verbose resumes get tossed and most of your online activity is never seen. That’s why smart people don’t always get the best jobs.
A quick google search can turn up countless pages, profiles and blog posts. But it’s a real pain for a recruiter to search through all of this stuff to find out what you’re really all about. Chances are, they’re not going to spend the time.
Filling out your Social Resume could be the solution. Give recruiters a search-optimized, controlled piece of real estate to find your most valuable content. Because how else are they going to find it?
Here are some great ideas for getting started:
There’s a lot of noise on Twitter, but occasionally we say brilliant things. The only problem is that those brilliant things get lost in a black hole of chatter before anyone important gets a chance to see them.
Tag all of your professionally relevant tweets with the hashtag #Brazen to import them to your Activity Feed on Brazen Careerist. From there you can add your best tweets as a Top Idea on your Social Resume.
Guest posts are a great way to show that you’re a good networker. They’re also important pieces of content that talent seekers wouldn’t find if they were just looking at your blog.
Share your guest posts on your Social Resume by shortening the URL and adding an explanation of why it’s important to you. Go check out my Social Resume for a few examples.
