Materialism. Clutter. Debt. Laziness.Procrastination.

How many of these are holding you back in life? Are you unable to live your dreams because of these manageable, yet intrusive characteristics you have allowed into your life? Well, today is the day you eliminate drawbacks and develop a lifestyle that’s will improve every aspect of your life.

Let me first explain what ‘Building Your Excursion in Life’ really means. Our lives are full of surprises, good and bad. The more you prepare for them, the higher chance you have of living out your dreams. Everyone’s excursion is different. For some it may be having a family in the suburbs and for others it may be becoming a location independent traveler. Either way, we have to build a platform from which we can take our excursion or venture to a higher level. Part of which is eliminating the unnecessary in life and bringing about more opportunities that we crave. A life of happiness, less stress, and more adventure can be had if the foundation of your life excursion is developed first.

I am not here to tell you how you everything is going to be easy tomorrow. There will be struggle and unease with improving your life. It took me years to live a life I fully appreciated. However, you can change your life for the better if you start with baby steps that will turn into leaps and bounds before your eyes.

Oh! It’s going to hurt.

Our lives are full of stuff and wasted time. The stuff is useless in many regards. It causes us to have debt and worries. The time we waste trying to pay for this stuff could be put to use in other aspects of our life that we truly want to spend it on. However, this stuff and the time we spend on it can be tough to let go. Cable TV, video games, knick-knacks, and so on have been such a part of our lives that ridding them makes us feel somewhat naked. Though the sooner you rid yourself of the useless stuff, you will have more time for the things you love.

Getting rid of the debt in your life is one of the most important things. The main reason for divorce in the US deals with debt and/or finances. I had some debt coming out of college and it always seemed to burden me. It was always in the back of my head. Once I rid myself of the debt, I was able to worry less and save more rainy days and sizable dreams.

As for procrastination and laziness, you can change these habits today, RIGHT NOW. It doesn’t cost anything to be more productive. It just takes some effort. I suggest making task lists and try to knock everything on that list off ASAP everyday. The sooner you get these things done, the sooner you will have free time and less stress over having to get things done sometime.

By eliminating the aspects of clutter, materialism, debt, laziness and procrastination, you will be able to grow as an individual and live out your dreams.

Big Steps to Building Your Excursion in Life:

Dream and Write. What are your wildest dreams for success and happiness? Write these down. These will be your new ultimate goals in everything you do.
Set Smalls Goals. At the beginning, set some small goals that will help motivate you. For example, focus on making one room a minimalist room and accomplishing that task will help you be successful in getting more things done.
Share your Thoughts. Making big life changes can be tough alone so tell your friends and family or write in a blog what your goals are. Two things will happen: 1) you will be accountable to others which subliminally will help you want to achieve your goals and 2) those who know your goals and are looking out for your best interest will motivate you.
Stop buying STUFF. Stop purchasing for one week. You will soon realize you can do with much less. Then, go through your home and start selling stuff you don’t need or use on Craigslist or donate it. Don’t think about it. Just do it.

Save $5 bucks. This week, take $5 from your check or bank account and start an emergency fund. Put that money in an envelope in a secret place. If you can do more than $5, awesome. But at minimum, $5 will help start a trend of developing an emergency fund. You will be less stressed when you know you can pay for car problems and home issues.

These are just a few of the many steps you can take to developing a lifestyle. Your excursion in life is full of ups and downs and the more you are prepared to face these, the more you will enjoy life. Start building your excursion in life today and you will enjoy life more and more for years to come.

Have a great day…

Dave

Definitely some good ideas. I find simply being young and moving around a lot take care of the clutter. I've moved so many times over the past five years that I've trimmed my belongings down to the bare necessities.

However, I would suggest putting that $5 into a high-interest savings account where it will make money, rather than in an envelope where it will decrease in value over time.

Not sure about in the U.S., but here in Canada you can now put up to $5,000 per year in a tax-free savings account where the interest earned and any withdrawals you make are not subject to taxation, among other features.

I've been thinking a lot lately about saving money, about the goal of not just living paycheck to paycheck, and this is a great reminder. I think it's time I start finding some useful personal finance blogs!
