“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well perserved body. But rather to skid in sideways, Chardonnay in one hand, strawberries in the other, body thoughly used up, totally worn out , and screaming “Woo Hoo! What a Ride!” -Chuck Myers
Um, hell yes.
Usually I run scared for the hills. It's something of a personal goal to take more risks for the last few years. I even allowed myself to get set up on a blind date (that was nerve wracking).
I guess if you don't risk, you don't grow. Good on you for taking those risks.
I hope to be more like that.
@Mehnaz Thanks! I'm living the way I know how, but I recognize the little push to find risk makes it that much better. Kudos to you because a blind date is not easy for anyone. That's a start right? Baby steps are good I think and take it as it comes. I would say to not be too forceful. Try a new risk every week, maybe it can be something small too. Good luck and thanks for the comment!

Taking risks is very fun. The potential for danger is exciting but usually things never turn out so bad that you can't recover from them and the things you could never plan or prepare for are awesome.
Great post! This is such a great reminder. Sometimes I'll make a fairly big decision that is risky, and it will turn out well. Then, I'll notice myself increasingly making decisions that are "safe." My biggest personal growth leaps have always come from taking risks - even when they didn't turn out well immediately. The lessons learned were incredibly valuable.
@Asha You never really know and you're right, it usually isn't as bad as you may think. On my blog I just replied to a comment by saying: "When you want to test out the 'temperature' of the water, you can test it out, ask all your friends what they think, read about it, research, etc. but you yourself will never really know the tradeoff or what will happen unless you really JUMP in yourself. That's the part about risk, considering the leaps you're taking doesn't always give you the answer or feedback you may want."
@Kendra I love to hear that your biggest personal growth has been from risks you have taken. That's a personal affirmation and great to hear. We all get stuck in routine some way or another, mixing it up is part of the fun!
@JRandom42 That's a good point to reference context when talking about safe. In general, I think of taking risk relates to whatever is risky to you. Some people's risk is tame to me. Relative term, I suppose.
Thanks for sharing, guys!
