It's spring. Well, to be fair it's spring where most people live. Girls will start dragging out colors like mint, sherbert, and Cerulean soon (for a lot of you guys, that's light green, light orange, and bright blue). Anyway, I have noticed that while most women have a completely separate wardrobe for fall/winter and spring/summer. Most guys simply exchange pants for shorts and be done with it. I have some guys friends that bust out their token pink button down in spring but that's about it.
Guys, if you are not so into wearing a bright orange shirt this spring here's my suggestion. Wear spring colors with grey. Not black. Also, rethink the pink button down for god's sake that has been done, done, and done. Replace it with light orange so that you won't look outdated. Grey also looks good on any skin tone (that's why I like the washed out black shirts on you vs. the brand new black). Look at what the black suit does to skin tone vs. the grey. In winter, it looks okay but for spring the grey makes you look healthier.
Mix the color in your tie with grey work slacks vs. going for the whole shirt in a bright color. You can also mix these colors in the striping or pattern of your shirt for a look that's more subtle.
Look for these colors ok?

For some reason your images aren't showing up on this page, neither in Firefox nor IE. ?
Is it just me, or does anyone else see no difference between the man in the black suit and the grey suit (besides a difference in lighting)?
I change clothes when they get old. A color is a color, no matter what season it is. You wear warm stuff in the winter and cool stuff in the summer.
And really, with today's temperature-controlled offices, even that doesn't really make a difference. I pretty much wear short sleeved polo shirts all year round here in north Texas. If it gets cold, I wear a sweater over them.
If it fits and it's not threadbare, who cares about matching the color with the season?

Samantha - guess not, see Scott's answer....
Scott - guess you're that guy then... sorry. The guy that's wearing "what fits" and "what's not threadbare". That guy with the khaki pants and black socks. That guy who refuses to read a short article about guy's fashion that's trying to help you look good.
Sorry to break it to you but caring what you look like does matter. In career and otherwise.
Hey all, I don't wear black socks with khaki pants... well except for a few times when I was in a rush trying to get my 5 yr old out the door to kindergarten.
But I iron all my clothes, and I replace them when they get faded and old (or at least only wear them on the weekend). I care about how I look, but I don't care what the fashion gods say.
I'm just saying that people are too locked into these seasonal fashion cycles. Why not wear bright colors in the winter? Why not wear muted colors in the spring? What's the difference as long as they look good?
