I attempt to reach the candidate by phone but receive an error message that the phone number is no longer in service. I send the candidate an email and she responds with other phone numbers and we connect.
Me: Are you still employed with XYZ company? (which is listed on the resume as the present employer)
Candidate: No, actually I’m not.
Me: Oh, when did you leave there?
Candidate: September 2008.
Me: So are you current employed anywhere?
