Last September I decided to start trying to use Twitter. Imagine my surprise when I went to create an account and learned I already had one — apparently one of my early-adopter friends invited me and I accepted, only to not use the site.
But now I’m in there and I’m committed, if not to maximizing my Twitter use, at least to trying to keep up with it. At first it was just me and a handful of people I knew personally or by close association. Now it’s up to 90 mostly
I definitely understand the desire to prioritize the sites you use online. It can get overwhelming pretty easily. Twitter is more useful to some people than others. If you're really into Web 2.0, it's more your style, and if your in an Internet related industry, it can be very helpful. Even if you can't access TweetDeck at work, I would suggest making a mental list of the top 5 people whose tweets interest you the most. Then, when you have a few minutes of down time, you can skim through their recent tweets. If you can't get the hang of Twitter though, don't worry, there are plenty of other social networking sites to choose from!
