How are you marketing to Gen-Y? Statistics show we are harder to market to than previous generations however we are easier to reach because of our connections in social media.

You guys are absolutely right. I don't know if its me, but I have a short attention span.
This is why I right short posts on my blog and hate reading long 500 word posts, unless it is actually interesting.
In terms of how they can market to us?
One thing companies lack, even when I go do oil changes, for them to send follow up emails after service so that I can give them my review. I mean they can set this up automated.
And yes, online interaction is probably our preferred method because unless we feel your service will be valuable we don't want to give you our phone number or any personal information. I don't care what your policy is, if you will sell our info or not.
A big part of my job as Marketing Assistant for online ad network, CPX Interactive, is to use Web 2.0 sites to reach people and get our name out there. We know the importance of the Internet and how much a part of life it has become, especially for Gen Y-ers. Marketing has definitely evolved as the Internet has, so we are blogging, and using Twitter, Facebook, Flickr, YouTube, and many more sites to connect.
Being part of Gen-Y and having been involved in social networking before I started working here has helped me do my job better. I can look back on the ways companies have tried to reach me, what worked and what didn't, and therefore what I think would be the best way to utilize these sites.

It's funny how some marketers think they can trick us into friending them or joining their Facebook group. They forget we were there 3 years before them doing the same things to our friends.
Instead of focusing on what I had done professionally in the past, I focused on what I wanted to do in the future. More...
