Who do you think of when you hear “signature style”?
Audrey Hepburn, Princess Diana, Nicole Kidman, Paris Hilton, Michelle Obama? These may be just a few of the names that come to mind. Of course, these women all have something in common — they’re famous! And, you’re not. But, that doesn’t mean you can’t have a signature style.
Creating a signature style will:
I thought these tips were simple, universal and to the point. I think people feel that a signature style has to do with the type of clothes you wear - but I think it has more to do with consistency. People remember consistency and if whatever you are wearing is consistent with who you are - people will take it as your signature style.
I don't know why I am reading this but signature style is over rated in terms of apparel and clothes. Just be professional and be yourself. Guys, stop wearing pleated pants! I agree that a consistant look can bring a signature style. However, I try and simply be modern and follow trends, and listen to my wife. You don't want to be type cast, if you will, about what you wear, do you? I think you want to be able to have an a little bit of the unknown and your style can be that if you allow it.

I would say that style is much more than clothing. While I would say, and Tim Gunn would agree, that these tips are helpful - what is more important is staying true to who you are. And good manners never hurt either.

These are great, Angela. I'd also add one that really works for me: invest in great basic pieces. If you've got the perfect trouser jeans, a great pencil skirt, a white blouse, black pumps, etc. then you are set. Then your accessories tip really comes in handy. There's no easier, classier, or more affordable way to expand and individualize your wardrobe by pairing great classics with fun and funky accessories.
People sometimes think it's superficial/lame to worry about how you look, but it really does speak volumes about a person in a professional environment.

Folks, style points only count if there is substance to back them up.
You want style? Focus on getting good at something, not looking good at something.
During the last winter Olympics, the women's ski team looked great in their flashy beads and one-of-a-kind styles. You remember them, right?
They got blown out.
The top female snowboarder lost the gold b/c she focused on earning some style points at the end of her run and wiped out.
Dressing well might get you a second look. But a signature style? That takes something a whole lot more than the pocket stitching on your ass.
I managed to understand it right away! You are 100% right.
