How can you start a business with your girlfriend (or boyfriend) and maintain a healthy relationship without ripping each other apart?

I am an idea reproducing machine. My most recent idea involves an online show/diary hosted by two good looking girls about fashion. I know I am biased but I honestly feel this idea is genius. Women love fashion, men love watching good looking girls, and the revenue potential that can be generated is insane! We wouldn’t even have to have th

It does sound like a great idea. But considering you said that you and your girlfriend are very different, you may have unrealistic expectations of her as a business partner. She may just be content to let things evolve and come to her. You also state in previous posts you don't need a work/life balance. I would suspect your girlfriend does and may end up resent her desire not to discuss work on a regular basis.

And as someone who works with her husband, I can tell you that 'overkill' and being polite and giving him gentle suggestions on what to do doesn't always work. In fact, it can lead to big arguments no matter what because you're both tired or he has his own work issues to deal with or he has other ideas all together. Inevitably, you start talking about work at breakfast and before bed and in the middle of the night. It starts small and then when there's an urgent matter, you bust in to discuss it while your partner is in the shower. If your gf is very hands off about not discussing it at work, you may end up resenting it and think she doesn't care as much about it.

It's difficult to maintain a healthy relationship period. It's even more difficult to do so when working with someone you love.

I highly recommend taking the time to interview partners and spouses who work together so you can get a better sense of what you're about to take on.

At the same time, working with my husband has given us a new form of "career intimacy" most people don't share. Good luck!

You're happily working with your husband, so there's hope for me!

I'm confident that my gf and I will work it out.
