Contest: Win a $425 Ticket To . . .

When Ryan Healy and I started our first blog, Employee Evolution, we had no clue that 6 months later we would be starting a company with Penelope Trunk. Nor could we have imagined that a year after that we'd be sitting in our Madison headquarters, working with a stellar team, continuously building what we feel has become the most kick-ass community of bloggers on the web.

I'm certain that if both of us were asked what had the single greatest impact in our lives, "blogging" would be the answer. And I know that a lot of you would agree that blogging made an impact on your lives too.

So we gotta know! How has blogging impacted your life? And here's how it's going to go down …

  1. Write a post explaining how blogging has impacted your life. Examples include: starting a company, getting your dream job, meeting a significant other, getting through a tough time, etc.
  2. Set up a Brazen Profile. You must be a member of the Brazen Community to enter.
  3. Publish your entry on your blog by Friday, December 12. Send me a message via my Brazen Profile with the post's URL.
  4. The winner and runner ups will be announced and featured on Brazen Careerist Monday, December 15.

So what’s the prize … ?

March is quickly approaching, and we all know what that means … one of largest interactive media summits in the world. And we’re giving away a free ticket! (airfare/accommodations not included)

Click here for more information about the event (because oddly enough, I'm not allowed to say their name).

If you have any questions, you can contact me through my Brazen Profile, but I encourage you to leave a comment here instead.

Other than that … have fun and tell your friends! Write about it, Tweet about it, whatever you can do to help us get the word out.

Best of luck to the entire community!

one question: Is almost 33 too old to post a profile on this site? I'm a Gen X/Gen Y cusper and I'm never sure.

If it's not too old, then count me the heck in!!!

This is the perfect blog post to get my blog up and running again. Too many blogs, so little time.

December 5, 2008 11:24 am

@Erin: You're never too old for a Brazen Profile. And anyone can participate in the contest.

The only thing we can't do (for the time being) is syndicate blogs from people outside the age range of 18-30.

Does that help?

December 5, 2008 11:29 am

SXSW! I'm all over this!

@Ryan Paugh

So basically what you're saying is I don't qualify for this contest?

December 5, 2008 11:44 am

@Erin: Nope, anyone can participate. Fill out a profile, and send me your submission. If we can't syndicate someone's feed and they're a winner or runner up, we can publish your entry as a guest post when we announce the winners.

We'll find a way to make it work, no worries.

I love this contest because in the end, it will show how great blogging is, and help legitimize it. Super excited to read the entries!

This is an amazing opportunity and pretty much the best prize I can think of! :)

Affected or influenced, but not impacted ;-) Impact is a noun, never a verb.

December 5, 2008 12:11 pm

@Rufus: My dear K9 compadre ... I should run all my blog posts by you before publication. Thanks.

Nice change on changed :-)

Great topic to write on. I think I'll enjoy this even if I don't win.

I haven't blogged enough yet to enter this, or really read enough blogs, but I'm working on it. Maybe I'll see what I can come up with.

I also wanted to say good call, Rufus. I actually just wrote a blog about impact and other misunderstood and misused buzzwords.

December 8, 2008 12:43 pm

@Ben: Maybe you could write about how you want blogging to impact your life ... ?

I think that's a perfectly relevant submission.

And let's face it, many of us haven't experienced something groundbreaking via blogging. Get creative. If you blog, I'm totally positive that you have an interesting story to share.

December 8, 2008 12:54 pm

I'm looking forward to reading people's entries! Can you post all of them, or just the winner and runners-up?

December 8, 2008 1:31 pm

@Nisha: The overall winner and runner ups will definitely be featured. And I think we'll link to all of the other submissions in a post too.

Sounds like a good plan?

@Rufus That's not true. Your bowels can be impacted. ;)

December 11, 2008 9:33 pm

Hey Ryan, I posted my submission here: http://katargonza.com/?p=232

@Holly:
HA!

@kathleen: Thanks!

Only one more day to submit entries! Thanks to everyone who has already made their submission.

Any last minute questions? Just let me know!

@Holly I was thinking that as I was writing, but that is actually an adjective modifying the noun bowels (I'm cringing at the thought of impacting bowels as a verb.... ooooo, ouch :-) )

December 12, 2008 9:50 am

Say, Dec. 15 is my birthday. This would be a great birthday present. I'm just sayin'. ;)

December 13, 2008 2:41 pm

@Holly: Wow! What a saleswoman you are ... playing the B-Day card :)
