Distractions are the key to creative ideas, but it's the followthrough that brings the success. I like the idea of major and minor focui. It lends some structure to the creative process and is crucial in making ideas that would otherwise be 'pipe dreams' into reality.
Even Da Vinci had to take the time to focus on things to get it written in his notes.
