I really try to avoid layoff talk in my blog. To me, it is unneeded news and perspective on something other news outlets will be covering much better than I do. I hate layoffs. I hate being a part of them. I don't like breaking the news to people. I don't know a single person that enjoys it either. I think they should be avoided at all costs.
Great Post Lance

Well put Lance. Honest and direct - my favorite kind of advice.
Times like these require a change in perspective.

You really hit it - the last thing people should be doing is follow the crowd. It's time to listen for your own true North and follow it. There really isn't any competition - each of us is the best at what we do, bar none.

Well said Lance.
Here's the link to 2 articles I found super eye-opening: http://www.mckinseyquarterly.com/Strategy/Strategic_Thinking/Learning_to... and
http://www.mckinseyquarterly.com/Strategy/Strategic_Thinking/How_to_win_...
Now as much as I'd like to stay away from the good ole' Chinese proverb that goes:
"a Problem is an opportunity", experience has shown me time after time - and as those two articles clearly show, that it is in these times that companies and people who are willing to think outside the box and act fast, come out stronger. The wary ones are the ones who struggle the most since they're focused on the problem and consequently are not able to see possibilities.
Great comments everyone! Keep them coming :)
