I always start off the day thinking I have a set plan. Then once I get started, things always come up and I can never get to what I planned to do. For a while, I was very frustrated and just got upset all of the time.
I think you're right that you really have to just accept it. Once you accept the fact that you will be interrupted and have to adjust your plans, you day tends to go a little more smoothly. It is an attitude. A lot about life is just that, an attitude.

If something is important enough, somehow we always seem to find time to do it regardless of how busy we are. For example, some college students are lax on checking and responding to emails from their campus career center when they're looking for a job, yet I'd be willing to bet they're finding time to update their status on Facebook. It's all about priorities.

I try to keep my energy levels up by working out at least every other day. "Being successful is hard work, so work bloody hard" — is what I tell myself to hustle even when I feel like taking a nap.
I find a way to celebrate my accomplishments every day as a motivating factor. It may not be a tangible thing (although sometimes it is) but it could be extra time to sleep in the next morning or scheduling in time to watch Hulu or something. That helps motivate me to do the things I really am not looking forward to doing.
