The December 17th issue of Time had some startling statistics on voters. According to Time, Democrats picked good judgment 33% of the time and Republicans picked it 21% of the time, when asked what the most important quality of a candidate is.
The other choices were leadership, character, experience and caring about people.
Call me crazy but how is good judgment not the top choice by a landslide regardless of what party you’re affiliate

This is brilliant. I never thought of it that way. I also totally agree with you on how much faith people have in Obama. It's ridiculous. But sometimes the people in this country are! Gotta love the US of A!!

Bravo! You hit the nail on the head!

You don't think that the amount of not just devotion but actual action that Obama has inspired people to is actually something positive? I entirely agree that celebrity is too much a part of modern politics, and Obama does that well, but he has also been saying from the start that he's not going to be able to "fix" America just by getting elected, he's going to need everyone's help. It doesn't show up in ads because it's not what people want to hear, but it's there. Now, I have my political beliefs and I'm sure they're clear but I think that's a fair assessment from either side. I have seen a lot of people actually get up off their couches and go out and work for the change they want to see because of this guy. And that's one thing that's inspirational about the campaign. I'd also rather see people with inflated hopes than apathy, which is still all-too-common.
Interesting blog, though. That statistic at the beginning is astonishing - I agree with your observations there. What were the other choices?
